Product Q&A

Honeycomb is the natural waxy hexagonal structure cleverly built by bees to store their honey, pollen and house their larvae. Cut comb is the name for the honeycomb which has been cut from the frame within the hive.

How does cut comb honey taste?

What is cut comb rich in?
Cut comb honey is rich in carbohydrates and antioxidants. It also contains trace amounts of several other nutrients. Cut comb’s main component is raw honey, which offers small amounts of protein, vitamins, and minerals as well as enzymes like glucose oxidase, which gives honey its antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. These enzymes are destroyed by the heating and filtering process used on some commercial honey.
The main antioxidants in cut comb honey are called polyphenols which are beneficial plant compounds that promote health, reduce inflammation and protect your body.
The beeswax in honeycomb provides heart-healthy long-chain fatty acids and alcohols which may play a role in helping to lower cholesterol levels.
What are the best ways to enjoy cut comb honey?
Honeycomb can be consumed in a variety of ways. While you can eat it as-is, it makes an excellent spread for warm bread or muffins. Honeycomb can also be used as a natural sweetener in tea, coffee or on top of pancakes, porridge, yoghurt or eaten with cheese. So what are you waiting for!
